Wall Painting Underway! Hooray!

Painting has commenced on the walls of BikeWorks North. Bright colours, similar to those at BikeWorks South were chosen to keep the shop light and cheerful.  Wall painting should be completed this week. Next week the floor gets a new look!

Building EBC’s New Community Workshop!

The Edmonton Bicycle Commuters’ Society is thrilled to announce that this spring will see the opening of our second BikeWorks Community Workshop. BikeWorks North, located at 9305-111 Avenue, will provide the same services as our existing BikeWorks (South) location, spreading do-it-yourself bicycle resources north of the river. BikeWorks North will also be home to The Spoke, a program to get youth involved in bike repair while teaching useful and exciting skills.

A view of the new shop pre-renovations.

Renovations are well underway and we hope to be up and running by April. We’ve made repairs and improvements to the walls and are now into the painting phase. Next will come floor painting, followed by workstation construction and equipment installation. If you’d like to lend a hand helping to transform this space into an awesome and functional bike workshop, we’d love to have your help. There are many ways to help:

  • drop by during public renovation hours Monday and Thursday 1PM-8PM, and Tuesday from 5PM-9PM (no particular experience is needed to help!)
  • make a donation of supplies or equiment
  • tell your friends and family about our new shop!

We will also need lots of help from volunteers to run the new shop once it’s open. If you’re interested in volunteering at BikeWorks North, either to help renovate or as a mechanic, greeter, etc. when the shop is open please email BikeWorks Coordinator Alex Hindle at hindle@edmontonbikes.ca
